Timo Glock Returns to DTM with McLaren Partnership
Timo Glock is set to make a triumphant return to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) series in 2025 after a three-year hiatus. The seasoned racer has inked a deal with Dorr Motorsport to pilot a McLaren 720S GT3 EVO, marking a significant comeback for the five-time race winner. Glock will be taking the wheel for Dorr Group, stepping in for Clemens Schmid to form a powerful two-car line-up for the upcoming season.
Glock’s DTM History and Comeback
Glock’s return to the DTM comes after a brief wildcard appearance in 2022 with Ceccato, driving a BMW M4 GT3. Previously, the German driver was an integral part of BMW’s factory roster, where he enjoyed immense success during the Class One era. With 15 podiums, six pole positions, and five race victories under his belt, Glock’s prowess on the track is undeniable.
However, a challenging 2021 season with an aging BMW M6 led to Glock being without a drive in the series for some time. Despite racing in the Italian GT championship in 2022, his partnership with BMW came to an end, leaving him searching for a new opportunity in the DTM.
Glock’s Excitement for the Future
In a statement regarding his return, Glock expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season: “The contact and my passion for the DTM have never completely broken off. I think the project is very good and exciting.” He further added, “With my experience, I am convinced that I can help the team. Our goal is to consistently finish in the top 10 in the second year. Maybe even podium places are possible.”
Glock’s determination and drive to succeed in the DTM are evident as he gears up for this new chapter in his racing career. His partnership with Dorr Motorsport and McLaren signifies a fresh start and an opportunity to showcase his skills once again on the prestigious DTM stage.
Team Owner’s Perspective
Rainer Dorr, the team owner of Dorr Motorsport, expressed his delight at welcoming Glock to the squad, emphasizing the value of having a driver of Glock’s caliber on board. “I think having a driver with such expertise and career is a great asset not only for us as a team, but also for the DTM,” said Dorr.
As Glock prepares to make his highly anticipated return to the DTM grid in 2025, fans and enthusiasts alike are eager to witness the veteran driver in action once again, bringing his wealth of experience and competitive spirit to the forefront of the racing scene.
