Hey everyone,
So, the 2025 season has kicked off with a bang for me. I’ve been pretty lucky to ride the wave of success from the end of last year in the Porsche Sprint/Endurance Challenge, and now I’m taking on the Porsche Carrera Cup North America. And get this, I’m part of the Kellymoss team, who are back-to-back champions, and I’m teammates with Riley Dickinson, the 2023 series champ. I mean, could it get any better than this? I don’t think so. It’s been an awesome experience learning the ropes and pushing myself in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.
Our first event of the season was at the IMSA Sebring event in March. Looking back on it, I couldn’t have asked for a better start. We showed some serious speed in practice and managed to qualify on the second row for both races. And guess what? I snagged two top-five finishes in my series debut. It was a bit of a learning curve out there, but all the hard work we put in during testing and the offseason really paid off.
Qualifying in this series was a whole new ball game for me. Trying to find some space on the track away from other cars and then really pushing those Yokohama tires to their limit was no walk in the park. The racing was intense too, but luckily I’ve had some experience with close battles from my time in the MX-5 Cup. But let me tell you, not having the draft to rely on in this type of racing makes every move count. Track position is key, which amps up the pressure during starts and one-on-one duels. I just missed out on a podium finish, but mixing it up with the top dogs of the series was a real thrill.
Next on the agenda is the Miami International Autodrome – and get this, it’s for Formula 1! I’ve never even been to an F1 event as a spectator, so racing in a support series there for the first time is like a dream come true. Since it’s a street course, the first practice session will be my first time laying eyes on the track. I might just take a few extra laps during the track walk to soak it all in. As for my expectations in Miami, it’s hard to say. But I’m feeling as ready as I can be, and the team has given me all the tools to study up and arrive with the best shot at success.
I still can’t wrap my head around how far I’ve come. In the midst of all the chaos and nerves, I’ll make sure to pause and appreciate the moment. This truly is a dream come true.
Thanks for sticking around and following my journey.
Aaron.
