Pressure is building as the championship finale approaches at Spring Mountain Raceway. The Spring Mountain Race Series recently kicked off the second half of its 2024-2025 season on the challenging 3.23-mile Charleston Peak Full Course. While new drivers have been making their mark, returning racers showcased their skills during a thrilling two-race weekend in February.

Radical Cup Challenge drivers faced a series of obstacles during the opening race of the weekend. With multiple incidents and limited green-flag racing, the competition was fierce heading into race two. Despite the challenges, Spring Mountain Racing worked tirelessly to get everyone back on track for Saturday’s race. One notable absence was Nancy Bullock, who surprised everyone by purchasing a Radical directly from the showroom and returning to the grid on Saturday. The gamble paid off as Bullock secured a podium finish in the Silver Class.

In the Gold Class, Nick Groat, Josh Esfahani, and Erik Davis engaged in a heated battle for position, entertaining spectators with their intense rivalry. While they narrowly missed the podium, Steven Thomas managed to secure third place for the weekend with a remarkable performance in race two. Doug Ramirez’s consistent season performance earned him a second-place finish, bringing him closer to the championship title. Tanner Harvey celebrated his first overall victory after making crucial adjustments to his car, solidifying his reputation as a top performer.

The Silver Class saw a nail-biting battle for first place, with Brian Reynolds clinching victory by a single point, showcasing his endurance and skill. Despite a setback in race one, Jim Mason’s strong race two performance earned him a well-deserved second-place finish.

In the Rookie Class, Sohaib Kureshi returned to the track after a brief hiatus, securing a strong second-place finish overall. However, it was Jason Horwitz who stole the show, leveraging his extensive track experience to claim pole positions and the fastest lap, maintaining his lead in the pursuit of the Rookie championship title.

The Sports Car Series featured a competitive 19-car grid, with multiple challenges across all classes. In the GTU category, Brian Reynolds secured third place through consistent racing, while Jeff Fraser finally reached the podium with a second-place finish and the fastest lap in race one. Michael Reynolds emerged as the weekend’s standout performer, clinching the top spot on the podium with a stellar display of driving prowess. With just three points separating Michael and Brian in the championship standings, the battle for second place promises to intensify.

The GT4 Class witnessed a gripping tie for third place, ultimately resolved in favor of Paul Chamberlain due to his higher finish in race two. John Mueller made an impressive debut, claiming second place and establishing himself as a rising star to watch. Tom MacMillan’s dominant performance throughout the weekend earned him the first-place finish, bolstered by extra points for pole position and fastest lap in both races.

In the GTL Class, Chad Lancaster strategically secured third place, accumulating valuable points in his championship quest. The battle for first place unfolded dramatically, with Blake Olsen and Randy Wonnenberg engaging in a thrilling wheel-to-wheel race to the finish line. Despite Wonnenberg’s tenacity, Olsen’s faster lap times ultimately secured him the victory, edging out his competitor for the win.
