Three talented drivers are set to make their Formula E rookie test debut at the upcoming Jeddah E-Prix. The trio includes America’s Jak Crawford, Colombian Tatiana Calderon, and Austrian Thomas Preining. They will be driving for Andretti, Lola Yamaha Abt, and TAG Heuer Porsche, respectively, as part of an impressive 11-driver line-up for the 40-minute session known as “FP0” on February 13th, just before the start of the first doubleheader event of the season.

Meet the Drivers

Jak Crawford, the reserve and development driver for Andretti, is no stranger to Formula E, having participated in last season’s rookie test in Berlin. However, this will be his first experience with the new GEN3 Evo cars. A member of the Aston Martin Driver Development Program in Formula 1, Crawford is gearing up for his third season in Formula 2, with two wins under his belt in the category. Excited about the opportunity, Crawford shared, “I’m very excited at the opportunity of driving a Formula E car again, especially as it will be my first time in the GEN3 Evo. I’m super excited to experience the increased acceleration and try out the new all-wheel-drive system.”

Calderon, who will be driving for Lola Yamaha Abt, previously participated in the female driver test in Jarama for Maserati MSG Racing. Currently racing in the GTD class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, she expressed her enthusiasm for joining the Lola Yamaha Abt Team for the rookie free practice in Jeddah. “I’m very excited to join the Lola Yamaha Abt Team for the Rookie free practice in Jeddah, which I feel is a great opportunity provided by Formula E for drivers who are new to the series,” said Calderon.

Porsche factory driver Preining, who already has experience from the Berlin and Marrakesh tests, is no stranger to the Formula E scene. The DTM champion in 2023, Preining has had a successful run in the German-based GT3 series. Looking forward to the upcoming test, Preining is eager to hit the track and provide valuable data for the TAG Heuer Porsche team.
