Dixon, who drives for Chip Ganassi Racing, was the fastest in the recent Indy Open Test. Palou set the pace in the first session, but Dixon took charge in the longer one, reaching a top speed of 225.182mph in his Honda.

Not really sure why this matters, but Dixon mentioned that testing involves making a lot of changes and getting through a test list. He also talked about the hybrid element being new and interesting. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like this could impact the race and maybe even the shootout at the end, according to Dixon.

The morning session was cut short due to an internet failure, causing a delay. Palou led the rescheduled session, followed by a productive afternoon where cars ran together to simulate race conditions. Newgarden and Sato also performed well, with Honda-powered drivers dominating the top 10.

Rosenqvist stood out for completing an unassisted lap at 220.835mph, while others faced challenges like Harvey’s energy recovery system problem and Ferrucci’s scare in Turn 1. Rahal was the only one to touch the wall, lightly glancing off it coming out of Turn 3.

It was a day of practice and race boost, with high qualifying boost available only on Thursday morning. The results showed Dixon’s dominance, setting the tone for the upcoming race.
