Julien Andlauer to Drive Proton Competition 963 at Daytona International Speedway
Julien Andlauer, the latest addition to the Porsche Penske Motorsport WEC team, is gearing up to hit the track at this year’s Rolex 24 At Daytona. The 25-year-old French driver will be taking the wheel of the No. 5 Proton Competition Porsche 963, joining forces with a formidable lineup that includes Neel Jani, Tristan Vautier, and Nico Pino.
Exciting Return to Proton Competition
Andlauer, who previously raced for Proton in the FIA WEC, is no stranger to success on the track. With two top-10 finishes under his belt and a standout performance at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, Andlauer is ready to bring his talents to Daytona International Speedway.
Proton Competition recently confirmed that the Porsche 963 will be competing in all five Michelin Endurance Cup events. Originally slated as a GTP Endurance Cup contender by IMSA, the program faced uncertainty after Porsche’s initial announcement. However, with the backing of key stakeholders, Proton Competition is set to make a strong showing at Daytona.
Strong Lineup for Daytona
In addition to Andlauer’s participation, Proton Competition will also field the No. 20 Porsche 911 GT3 R driven by Claudio Schiavoni, Matteo Cressoni, Richard Lietz, and Thomas Preining in the GTD PRO category. The team’s lineup also includes the Iron Dames squad piloting the No. 83 Proton Porsche 992, marking a significant milestone for the organization.
High Hopes for Success
As the anticipation builds for the upcoming race, Team Principal Christian Ried expressed optimism about the team’s prospects. “This race will set the tone for the season ahead, especially in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup. We have worked tirelessly to prepare for Daytona, and I believe our efforts will yield positive results,” Ried commented.
Michael Ried, Team Principal and CTO of Proton Competition, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the team’s readiness for the challenge. “Daytona is always a thrilling way to kick off the season, and we are eager to test our mettle against tough competition. The Roar will serve as the final tune-up for our drivers as we aim for a strong start to the year,” Ried added.
In the fast-paced world of motorsport, every race presents a new opportunity for drivers and teams to showcase their skills and determination. With Andlauer at the helm and a talented roster backing him up, Proton Competition is poised for an exciting journey at Daytona International Speedway.
